Body

FUNDING SOURCE:

Capital Improvement Plan - Wastewater Fund

PURPOSE:

To consider approval of Amendment No. 1 to the Engineering Professional Services Agreement (500531) with NCS Engineers, LLC (NCS), to assess and redesign the existing Influent Pump Station (IPS) odor control system to improve its performance in accordance with City Code §§ 3.10.010.2 (Technical Registrant) and 3.10.030.1.

BACKGROUND:

On July 9, 2024, Lake Havasu City Council approved the Engineering Professional Services Agreement for the design of the North End Wastewater System Expansion.  Since that time, wastewater odor has been an ongoing issue for the north end of the City.  The Wastewater Division has been taking steps to eliminate as much of this odor as possible and recently determined that the IPS odor control system may not be sized adequately.  The City’s Capital Projects Team and Wastewater Division intend to have NCS evaluate the existing odor control system and redesign it to better manage the existing odor issue.

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

This redesigning will provide the necessary improvements to the odor control system at the Influent Pump Station ultimately, helping to reduce wastewater odor in the northern end of the community.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funds in the amount of $37,008 are allocated and available in the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Capital Improvement Plan, utilizing Wastewater Utility Funds, for this project.
