PURPOSE:
To consider approving the Partnership Agreement with the Military Moms Organization to foster support and enhance the Military Tribute Banner Program.
BACKGROUND:
The Military Banner Program (“Program”) was established by the Military Moms Organization in Lake Havasu City to recognize and celebrate local residents who are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces.
Military banners are currently displayed at The Shops at Lake Havasu located on the north end of town. If this partnership is approved, the banners will be relocated to Wheeler Park and installed on poles within the park. This location offers greater visibility and serves as a high-traffic travel corridor within the city.
The City will work with the Military Moms Organization to obtain the banners, verify that the information on each application is accurate, and be notified when an individual is no longer an active-duty service member. At that time, the banner will be respectfully retired and presented to the family as a token of appreciation for their loved one’s service.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Lake Havasu City is a proud and patriotic community with many service organizations. This program, in partnership with the Military Moms Organization, will continue that tradition of honoring and supporting our military families.
