PURPOSE:
To consider ratification of the Broadcom Terms and Conditions and Foundation Agreement allowing the City's virtual servers to be licensed and supported through Broadcom, Inc., utilizing the Mohave Educational Services Cooperative Contract 22L-SCC-0121 (500220) with Sterling Computers Corporation, an authorized re-seller for Broadcom, Inc., in accordance with City Code § 3.10.010.3(A)(1) and 3.10.010.3(A)(16).
BACKGROUND:
Lake Havasu City has an extensive virtualized server environment through VMWare, which Broadcom, Inc., recently acquired. The City’s licensing agreement is up for renewal, so staff is requesting Council ratification of the purchase of the annual license and the new agreement with Broadcom for continued support and licensing. The license was set to expire prior to the Council meeting date, so the City Manager authorized the renewal; therefore, staff is requesting ratification of the renewal agreement and licensing purchase.
The City’s licensing cost for VMWare is approximately $46,810 annually. This item is before Council for approval because it contains an indemnification clause.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Having a functioning server environment is critical to the City’s daily operations.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $46,810 are allocated and available in the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Administrative Services Department, Information Technology Division budget within the General Fund.
