PURPOSE:
Approve cooperative purchase for 800MHZ P25 Trunked Radio and MCC 7500 Dispatch System in accordance with City Code § 3.10.010.5(A)(1).
BACKGROUND:
The current radio system consists of the radio dispatch consoles, mobile radios, and handheld radios, and is used by multiple City departments including Public Safety, Operations, and Recreation. This system has experienced numerous breakdowns and repairs during the latter part of the twelve years it has been in service, and replacement parts are no longer available due to the age of the equipment. Motorola Solutions has provided a proposal for an 800MHZ P25 Trunked Radio and MCC7500 Dispatch System utilizing State of Arizona Contract # ADSP013-036880 with a total cost of $2,959,248.00.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Replacement of the current radio system will provide reliable communications for the multiple City departments in addition to significantly reducing or eliminating repair costs and the chances of a system failure.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Appropriation in the amount $2,959,248.00 is included in the adopted Fiscal Year 2015-16 CIP budget, Project PD1050, account 351-1840-401-6204.
