COUNCIL COMMUNICATION

TO:                                          Honorable Mayor and Council

FROM:                     Anthony Kozlowski, Assistant City Manager

SUBJECT:Title

Action: Partnership Agreement with the Partnership for Economic Development for the Installation and Operation of a Professional Audio System to Enhance the Community Gathering Space known as the Main Street Commons (Anthony Kozlowski)

Body

FUNDING SOURCE:

General Fund

PURPOSE:

To consider approving the Partnership Agreement with the Partnership for Economic Development (PED) for the installation and operation of a professional audio system to enhance the community gathering space known as Main Street Commons.

BACKGROUND:

The audio system will provide light background music and public announcements played through speakers within Main Street Commons. The professional audio system consists of hardware (light-pole mounted amplifiers, speakers, and player) and software (cloud-based, fully licensed music service with scheduling and messaging capabilities) components.

As defined within the partnership agreement, the City is responsible for operating and managing the audio system once it has been installed by the PED. The PED is responsible for securing additional funding for any ongoing subscription and internet service costs, as well as for housing the audio system player within the Nomadic IT room.

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

Enhance the Main Street Commons to better support community events and create an inviting space for residents and visitors.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Costs associated with operating and managing the audio system will initially be covered by the current personnel budget allocation for Fiscal Year 2025-26. Additional funds may be required for operations and maintenance costs for the system.
