Action: Resolution No. 26-3914 Approving the Intergovernmental Agreements with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office for Public Safety Answering Point Policy Routing Function Backup (Chief Stirling)

Body

FUNDING SOURCE:

PURPOSE:

To consider adopting a resolution approving the Intergovernmental Agreements (IGAs) with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office for Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) Policy Routing Function (PRF) Backup.

BACKGROUND:

The State of Arizona is responsible for the overall administration of 9-1-1 systems throughout the State, and they are currently implementing the NextGen 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) Project which is a statewide effort to modernize the 9-1-1 system in Arizona.  As a part of this effort, the State is requiring formal agreements be established between participating agencies regarding backup call-handling responsibilities in the event a primary PSAP is unable to receive or process 9-1-1 calls due to planned or unplanned outages, staffing shortages, or other emergencies.  The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office has agreed to assume the role of Backup PSAP for Lake Havasu City Police Department, and Lake Havasu City Police Department will assume the backup role for the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

These IGAs ensure continuity of critical emergency communications services in the event Lake Havasu City Police Department or the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office’s PSAP is unable to receive or process 9-1-1 calls.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None
