PURPOSE:
To consider purchase of the Island Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) UV Disinfection System Replacement Equipment (Contract 500848) from Trojan Technologies, the OEM, for a “like for like” replacement of the existing UV equipment, in accordance with City Code §§ 3.10.010.3(A)(21) (Water/Wastewater Plant OEM Equipment Replacement and Specialized Services Exception) and 3.10.030.1.
BACKGROUND:
Lake Havasu City operates three Wastewater Treatment Plants. These three treatment plants utilize Trojan UV3000Plus Ultraviolet (UV) disinfection systems to treat wastewater as part of the overall treatment process. The UV Disinfection system at the Island WWTP is over 20 years old and has a typical lifespan of 20 to 25 years.
The City requested a quote from Trojan Technologies, the original equipment manufacturer of the current system and specialty provider of water and wastewater treatment equipment, and Trojan Technologies provided a quote agreement for replacement for $760,400 plus applicable taxes.
Note: This quote covers only the replacement equipment and does not include installation, which will be procured through a separate process.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
The replacement of the UV Disinfection System at the Island WWTP will ensure the continued effective treatment of wastewater at the plant.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $760,400 plus applicable taxes are allocated and available in the Fiscal Year 2026-27 Capital Improvement Plan utilizing Wastewater Utility Funds.
