PURPOSE:
Annual renewal of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Lake Havasu City and the Lake Havasu Professional Firefighters.
BACKGROUND:
City Code 2.62, adopted in April of 2004, allows specifically designated employee groups to engage in formal process designed to foster improved communications and working relationships. As a result, the MOU between the City and the Lake Havasu Professional Firefighters is being brought before City Council for review and approval.
This year, the MOU required only two minor changes. One was the format of the MOU, and the other was the elimination of the term Request for Absence (RFA) within the document. The City no longer utilizes RFA's and therefore requested the removal of all references to RFA's within the MOU. This affected Articles 6 and 18.
The City Attorney's office has reviewed the MOU and indicated it was ready to present to the City Council as to form.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
The MOU establishes guidelines for both the Fire Department administrative staff and members of the Professional Firefighters Association to follow. The MOU establishes and maintains staffing levels within the community, which is a direct impact on the health and safety of the community.
