PURPOSE:
City and NV5 staff will be presenting a 60% Second Bridge & Roadway Improvement Project status.
BACKGROUND:
The City has contracted with NV5 for design services, with help from the CMAR Ames Construction who, in working with City staff, has been able to finalize the proposed alignment for bridge, roadway and intersections.
The design footprint for this project runs along London Bridge Road to Palo Verde Boulevard South, and across the channel to McCulloch Boulevard. The design project consists of bridge design, planning for new and existing roads to and from the bridge, and the relocation of utility lines placed under or in the bridge, which are currently located under the Bridgewater Channel.
The project plans are currently at 60% and are being reviewed by City staff.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
A second bridge and roadways to the Island will improve safety and provide for an additional emergency evacuation route.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are allocated and available in the Fiscal Year 2025-26 Capital Improvement Plan utilizing funding from the 2022 Legislative Appropriation.
