PURPOSE:

To consider the award of a bid for the Fiscal Years 2025-30 Redi-Mix Concrete Products (Contract 500602) to Campbell Redi-Mix in accordance with City Code § 3.10.030.1.

 

BACKGROUND:

The Lake Havasu City Public Works Department is in need of supply and delivery, as needed, of approximately 2,680 cubic yards of various types of Redi-Mix Concrete products and full and half-size reinforced concrete blocks. The Redi-Mix Concrete products are used by the Public Works Department’s Street Maintenance Division, Water Division and Wastewater Division for daily work and special projects, such as in driveway approach sections, curbs, gutter, and sidewalks. The Street Maintenance Division utilizes reinforced concrete blocks along wash lengths as a flood control application for mitigating erosion caused by storm water runoff.

 

On May 14, 2025, sealed bids were opened, and one bid was received in response.  The qualifying bid is Campbell Redi-Mix for a total bid of $360,255 based on annual estimated quantities as itemized and unit prices as listed on the attached bid tabulation, plus applicable sales tax.

 

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

Procuring Redi-Mix Concrete products from the local supplier saves on the cost of products being transported from outside the city, which can also affect the quality of the mixed product. City staff and contracted labor are able to complete work with a quality assured product, and without experiencing delivery delays.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funds for Redi-Mix Concrete products and reinforced concrete blocks will be allocated and available in the appropriate divisional budgets for Fiscal Years 2025-30 with Council budget approval for each fiscal year.

SUGGESTED MOTION:Recommended Action

I move to award the bid for Fiscal Years 2025-30 Redi-Mix Concrete Products to Campbell Redi-Mix; authorize routine expenditures exceeding the threshold but not to exceed the annual departmental budgets for the duration of the Agreement and all renewals; and authorize City staff to exercise the annual renewal options throughout the Agreement term.
