FROM:                     Pete Pilafas, Fire Chief

SUBJECT::Title

Discussion and Action: Cooperative Purchases of Emergency Medical Supplies from Bound Tree Medical, LLC (Chief Pilafas)

Body

FUNDING SOURCE:

General Fund

PURPOSE:

To consider approval of cumulative, cooperative purchases greater than the City Manager’s expenditure threshold for emergency medical supplies with Bound Tree Medical, LLC, (Contract 500666) in accordance with City Code §§ 3.10.010.3(A)(1) and 3.10.030.1.

BACKGROUND:

The Fire Department utilizes a Cooperative Purchasing Agreement with Bound Tree Medical, LLC, through the City of Tempe, Arizona Contract No. T24-151-01, to purchase emergency medical supplies for the City’s Emergency Medical Service Program. This agreement’s maximum term, including all authorized annual renewals, is scheduled to expire on September 30, 2029.

The Fire Department provides 911 ground ambulance transport and operates multiple ambulances/fire vehicles with medical equipment and supplies. The medical equipment and supplies to be purchased will exceed the $100,000 expenditure threshold with Bound Tree Medical, LLC for the current fiscal year.

The Fire Department seeks approval to purchase the needed medical equipment and supplies from Bound Tree Medical, LLC, for an amount not to exceed the Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Service budget this fiscal year.

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

The purchase of the medical equipment will outfit the City’s ground ambulances and fire vehicles, which will have a significant positive impact on our community. The goal is to have well-equipped ambulances that can serve our community.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funds are allocated and available for the purchases of medical equipment and supplies in the Fiscal Year 2025-26 Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Service Division, within the General Fund.
