PURPOSE:

To consider adopting a resolution approving an Intergovernmental Agreement with Mohave College Corporate Education for use of Fire Station #2 for the Mohave College Fire Academy starting in 2026.

BACKGROUND:

Mohave College Fire Program approached the Fire Department seeking an agreement to host a comprehensive Fire Academy for Spring Semesters of 2026 & 2027. This initiative involves the utilization of both the training grounds and classrooms located at Fire Station #2, which offers an ideal environment for practical training and classroom instruction.

Under the terms of a proposed intergovernmental agreement, the college will be granted permission to implement its Fire Academy for the Spring semester. The arrangement will provide access to a range of training resources and facilities designed to meet the educational and operational needs of the program.

Furthermore, the agreement stipulates that the college will incur usage fees based on the current Fire Department Training Center Usage Fee Schedule. These fees will be systematically invoiced every month, ensuring transparency and accountability in the financial aspects of the partnership. The goal of this partnership is to enhance the training capabilities available to aspiring firefighters and support the mission of both the college and the Fire Department.

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

The partnership with the Mohave College Fire Program is designed to enhance the training and development of firefighting students. The Lake Havasu City Fire Department intends to utilize this opportunity to promote the City and facilitate the recruitment of qualified candidates for our workforce.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Mohave College will compensate the City for the use of the facilities, equipment, and any resources as specified in the current Fire Department Training Center Usage Fee Schedule.
