PURPOSE:
To consider approving a Change Order to add additional, adjacent streets to the Lake Havasu Avenue & Mesquite Avenue Paving Rehabilitation Project (Contract 500586) in accordance with City Code §§ 3.10.010.2 (A.R.S. Title 34) and 3.10.030.1.
BACKGROUND:
On December 10, 2024, the City Council awarded the Lake Havasu Avenue & Mesquite Avenue Paving Rehabilitation Project to Pioneer Earthmovers, Inc., in the amount of $2,913,037. During construction it was determined that additional streets adjacent to Mesquite Avenue qualify for repaving based on their pavement condition indexes (PCIs) and should be added to the project. The additional streets include Civic Center Lane (from Mesquite Avenue to wash), Querio Drive (from Mesquite Avenue to McCulloch Boulevard), Smoketree Boulevard (from US 95 to Swanson Avenue) and Wings Loop (from Swanson Avenue to Swanson Avenue). By taking this step, the City will save money as attempting to bid these additional streets separately will likely result in higher costs.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Taking this action will save money and improve more streets in the downtown area.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $820,310 are allocated and available in the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Capital Improvement Plan utilizing Highway User Revenue Funds.
