Body
FUNDING SOURCE:
Highway User Revenue Fund (HURF)
PURPOSE:
To consider approval of an Engineering Professional Services Agreement (500665) for Pavement Management Plan Update to get an accurate assessment of the City’s pavement infrastructure in accordance with City Code §§ 3.10.010.2 (Technical Registrant) and 3.10.030.1.
BACKGROUND:
The Streets Division is looking to update its Pavement Management Program which would include data collection, pavement administration, updating existing pavement management section limits and areas, an automated pavement condition survey, and updating maintenance and rehabilitation history from Nichols Consulting Engineers. The total cost for the pavement management portion from Nichols Consulting Engineers is $138,000.
By using the best practice for gathering and inputting data while applying the latest technology to evaluate our streets from the surface to the base, along with visual inspections, the City will achieve the most accurate Pavement Condition Index (PCI). This multi-tier approach will allow the Streets Division to collect accurate data, as well as give recommendations as to the most cost-effective solutions for maintaining the roadways. The data will be integrated into the Street Saver Program for analysis and management.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Road preservation and maintenance will ensure smoother roadways for the community. Proper analysis of underlying causes of deterioration will offer more cost-efficient options for finding solutions.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $138,000 are allocated and available in the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Public Works Street Division budget for this project.
