PURPOSE:
To consider the introduction of an ordinance amending City Code Section 2.04.280, Council Requests.
BACKGROUND:
At the January 14, 2025, City Council meeting, the City Council discussed City Code Section 2.04.280, Council Requests. The City Council directed that an item to amend Section 2.04.280 be presented to the Council for consideration to revise subsection (A)(1) from requiring a motion and two seconds to research further or place an item on a future agenda to a motion and one second.
The proposed ordinance contains a revision to Section 2.04.280(A)(1) as follows:
§ 2.04.280 COUNCIL REQUESTS.
A. Any member of the Council may request that an item be researched further or place an item on a future agenda for consideration, discussion, or legal action by:
1. Making a motion and receiving a second from two other Councilmembers, no vote necessary, during the Future Discussion Items portion of the City Council meeting; or
The proposed revision reverts Section 2.04.280(A)(1) as it existed in 2022. If this item is introduced at this meeting, an item to consider adopting the ordinance will be presented at the next City Council meeting.
