PURPOSE:
Provide an update to the City Council on the Airport.
BACKGROUND:
Council recently approved Task Order 9 with C&S Engineers for the Design, Bidding and Construction of a Runway Lights and Signs project. The Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) was replaced, and the recessed fire hydrant project was completed removing a long-standing obstruction issue. Runway Safety Area 30% design review was completed with ADOT and required Environmental Review has been submitted for ADOT review. We are preparing a Notice of Request For Proposal to establish a General Aviation Maintenance Facility in City-owned Hangar 59. Finally, we are working on establishing a Federal Aviation Administration-mandated Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program.
The Airport is widely used today for many activities such as medical transport, delivery services, and military training and operations.
