Body
FUNDING SOURCE:

PURPOSE:
To consider adoption of a resolution approving a Funding Agreement with Mohave County.
BACKGROUND:
Mohave County received funding from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 to be used for the benefit of residents of Mohave County. Supervisor Johnson invited requests for use of the funding within District 3 of Mohave County. Lake Havasu City submitted a request for funding for the replacement of the Site Six fishing pier.
The fishing pier was installed in 1998 and includes a fish cleaning station, public restrooms, and a boat launch ramp. It is used by tens of thousands of individuals annually and is a premier location for people to enjoy fishing and spending time outdoors.
The fishing pier needs replacement. The metal guard railings and awnings have experienced rust, the structure supports are breaking, and the floats that hold up the ramp are in need of replacement.
Lake Havasu City requested $1.6 million to replace the pier and on August 19, 2024, the Board of Supervisors approved the City’s request. This Funding Agreement is necessary to receive reimbursement of the awarded funding. The expenditure of these funds must be obligated before December 31, 2024.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Enhancement of community facilities for the enjoyment and benefit of residents of Lake Havasu City.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Reimbursement of up to $1,600,000.
