COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
TO: Honorable Mayor and Council
FROM: Bill Young, Transportation and Maintenance Superintendent
SUBJECT:Title
Approve the Cooperative Purchase of a Powered Mobile 6 Column Lift System from ARI Phoenix, Inc. (Bill Young)
Body
FUNDING SOURCE:
General Fund
PURPOSE:
To approve the cooperative purchase of a powered mobile lift system for the Public Works Vehicle Maintenance Division utilizing Sourcewell’s Cooperative Purchase Contract #013020-ARP under the City’s cooperative purchase agreement, Contract No. 500351 with ARI Phoenix, Inc. (“ARI”), in accordance with City Code §3.10.010.2(A)(1).
BACKGROUND:
The ARI-Hetra Powered Mobile 6 Column Lift System will replace four (4) of the outdated ARI-Hetra mobile column lifts. ARI’s price quote of $76,136.10 including freight, plus applicable taxes, may be reduced by a $4,000 trade-in credit provided by ARI for the four (4) lifts being replaced if the City is unable to sell them at a higher bid through the City’s surplus auction. This would validate ARI’s trade-in credit to be deemed fair market value as they are over 16 years old and ARI-Hetra does not produce parts for them anymore. The old lifts are not compatible with the new lifts. The lifts are needed for fire trucks, VACCON trucks, dump trucks, patch trucks and other heavy-duty equipment.
The City entered into a Cooperative Purchase Agreement with ARI Phoenix on February 27, 2023, which was extended until April 13, 2025, by Amendment No. 1.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
The purchase of the lifts will provide the City with a reduction in the cost of repairs and downtime caused by the age and condition of the current lifts.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $76,136.10 (including freight) plus applicable taxes are allocated and available in the General Fund in the Public Works Vehicle Maintenance budget for Fiscal Year 2024-25.
