PURPOSE:
To approve a Participation Agreement with the Washington/Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area for the Overdose Detection Mapping Application Program (ODMAP).
BACKGROUND:
Washington/Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (W/B HIDTA) created ODMAP to detect a sudden increase in drug overdoses as a means of combating the drastic increase in substance use disorders. ODMAP uses a web service that is accessible via a smartphone or computer and allows first responders to report suspected fatal and non-fatal overdose incidents. Mapping of these incidents provides information in near real-time and allows agencies to identify overdose occurrences and spikes, enabling the development of effective strategies for addressing overdose incidents in their jurisdictions.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
The use of ODMAP will allow Lake Havasu City Police Department to enter instances of suspected overdose incidents and analyze the data for any spikes and/or clusters to develop strategies for addressing those areas.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None
ATTACHMENTS:
ODMAP Participation Agreement
SUGGESTED MOTION:Recommended Action
I move to approve the Participation Agreement for Overdose Detection Mapping Application Program with the Washington/Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area and authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement on behalf of the City.
