PURPOSE:
Provide an update to the City Council on the Airport.
BACKGROUND:
The Airport opened on June 1, 1991, and is mostly used for general aviation. It is located on 5600 Highway 95. For the 12-month period ending May 16, 2022, the airport had 52,900 aircraft operations, an average of 145 per day: 92% general aviation, 4% air taxi and 4% military. There are 157 aircraft based at this airport: 121 single engine, 13 multi-engine, 7 jet aircraft, 7 helicopter and 9 ultralight. Today, many updates to the airport have occurred. A lot of them being to the runway, taxiway, and safety areas. Most recently, the AWOS station went before council to be replaced and is set for a March completion date. Negotiations are underway for the South End Hangar Development and continue to be highly anticipated.
The Airport is widely used today for many activities such as medical transport, delivery services, and military training and operations.
